Pakistan announced on Monday that it carried out overnight airstrikes against militant targets in eastern Afghanistan in response to recent deadly attacks.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said precision strikes hit three targets in the provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar, killing 25 militants.
He added that the operation also included ground actions along the border targeting members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, an armed group sometimes linked to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Islamabad said the operation was conducted as part of efforts to respond to cross-border attacks and strengthen security in frontier areas.
