Saudi Arabian Football Federation President Yasser Al-Misehal announced on Monday that he is stepping down following the national team’s elimination in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Al-Misehal said he takes full responsibility for the disappointing campaign, stating that the team’s results fell short of supporters’ expectations.

He added that he would not remain in office until the end of the current term, paving the way for new elections while pledging to continue supporting Saudi football outside his official role.
