More Than 1,300 Die as Unprecedented Heatwave Sweeps Europe

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that more than 1,300 people have died as a result of the heatwave affecting Europe since mid-June, urging governments to treat the phenomenon as a public health emergency.

Germany recorded its highest modern temperature at around 42°C, while France reported approximately 1,000 excess deaths during the month.

Several other European countries also experienced record-breaking temperatures, with forecasts indicating the heatwave could ease early next month.
