Yemen is witnessing its most significant escalation since 2022 following the bombing of the runway at Sanaa International Airport to prevent the landing of an Iranian aircraft that was allegedly unauthorized to enter Yemeni airspace, according to the government’s Ministry of Defense.
The National Defense Council, chaired by Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi, vowed to respond firmly to any future violations, while security forces raised their level of readiness.
The Houthis, meanwhile, staged protests against the strike and claimed responsibility for targeting Saudi Arabia’s Abha Airport, while the coalition announced it had intercepted ballistic missiles launched toward southern Saudi Arabia.
