On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, a trilateral meeting was held at Jordan’s Foreign Ministry between Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, and U.S. Special Envoy to Syria and Ambassador to Turkey, Thomas Barrack. The discussions centered on the situation in Syria and ways to support reconstruction efforts, emphasizing security, stability, sovereignty, and meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people while safeguarding their rights. The meeting built upon prior talks held on July 18, which focused on consolidating a ceasefire in Suweida province, southern Syria. Separate bilateral discussions also took place between Safadi and Barrack, as well as Safadi and al-Shibani to coordinate peace and stability efforts.
