China on Monday lashed out at German Foreign Minister Johann Vadevoll after he described Beijing’s behavior in the Asia-Pacific as “increasingly aggressive,” accusing Berlin of “inciting confrontation.”
Speaking during a visit to Japan, Vadevoll warned that China was attempting to “unilaterally alter borders” in the Taiwan Strait and the East and South China Seas, stressing that any escalation in this vital hub of global trade could have “serious consequences” for international security and the world economy.
The remarks follow earlier German accusations that Beijing is “supporting Russia’s war machine” in Ukraine, further heightening tensions between the two countries over regional security and international law.
