U.S. President Donald Trump announced Sunday his readiness to move to a second phase of sanctions against Russia, coinciding with the heaviest Russian aerial assault on Ukraine since 2022.
A U.S. official said the barrage on Kyiv — involving over 800 missiles and drones and sparking fires in government buildings — “shows no sign that Moscow intends to end the war diplomatically.”
The strikes killed at least five people, including two in the capital.
