Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced the arrest of several fighters accused of committing serious abuses against civilians following their takeover of El Fasher, the army’s last stronghold in Darfur.
RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti” said accountability committees had been formed to investigate the incidents.
The move followed international condemnation after reports of mass killings and executions.
The RSF confirmed the capture of the main suspect, known as “Abu Lulu,” vowing to bring him to justice as the conflict between the army and RSF has continued since April 2023.
