U.S. European Command seized the Russian tanker “Bela 1” in the North Atlantic, accusing it of violating sanctions and illegally transporting oil to Venezuela.

The U.K. Ministry of Defence supported the operation, while Russia condemned the move as a breach of maritime law, insisting the vessel was operating under a temporary authorization since December.

Moscow warned that the use of force in international waters risks destabilizing maritime security.
