U.S. President Donald Trump announced the creation of a “Peace Council” tasked with overseeing Gaza-related developments, confirming that members will be named soon.
Trump said on Truth Social that the process has officially entered its second phase after the first stage brought broad calm and large-scale humanitarian aid into the enclave.
He added that the council will support a Palestinian technocratic government to temporarily manage Gaza, in close cooperation with Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
Trump claimed the purpose is to reach a comprehensive deal to dismantle Hamas’ weapons, tunnels, and military infrastructure.
