Norwegian police said an explosion occurred Sunday at the entrance of the United States Embassy in Oslo, causing limited damage to the building without casualties.

Authorities said the blast occurred in the consular section of the embassy, adding that investigations are underway to determine the cause and that a possible terrorist motive has not been ruled out.

Witnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the building after the incident.
