A wanted suspect was killed, and three security personnel were injured on Friday after an attack targeting a security checkpoint at the entrance to Jaramana, in the Damascus countryside.

Syrian authorities said the attacker threw two hand grenades at security personnel after firing shots into the air, before a third grenade exploded while he was attempting to use it.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased was wanted in connection with murder and drug trafficking cases. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
