Israel, U.S. Prepare for Possible Ceasefire Collapse with Iran, Energy Sites in Focus

Israel and the United States are preparing for the potential collapse of the ceasefire with Iran and a resumption of hostilities, with energy facilities likely to be included in future targets, according to Israel’s Maariv newspaper.

A senior Israeli military official, cited by the report, said there is “close coordination” between the two sides, adding that any renewed conflict could involve strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure.

The developments come amid heightened tensions following Iran’s decision to re-close the Strait of Hormuz in response to the ongoing U.S. naval blockade. Before the conflict, the strait accounted for around 20% of global oil exports.

The report also noted that Iran continues to insist on its right to uranium enrichment, with mediators expressing little optimism about ongoing talks between Washington and Tehran.

The United States and Israel accuse Iran of pursuing nuclear and missile programs that threaten regional security, while Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful and not aimed at developing weapons.
