Iranian media reported on Wednesday that Tehran did not request an extension of the ceasefire agreement with the United States, contradicting earlier statements from Washington.
According to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Iran has not sought to prolong the truce that came into effect on April 8.
The report stated that the continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz reflects “ongoing U.S. hostility,” adding that Iran will not reopen the waterway as long as the naval blockade remains in place.
On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire at Pakistan’s request, pending a proposal from Iran, without specifying a timeline.
