A U.S. military strike on a suspected drug-trafficking boat in the eastern Pacific killed three people on Sunday, according to U.S. Southern Command.

The operation is part of an ongoing campaign targeting alleged drug-smuggling vessels in Latin American waters.

Since September, the administration of President Donald Trump has carried out similar actions, resulting in at least 186 deaths.

Additional operations have also taken place in the Caribbean, drawing increasing scrutiny over the use of military force in anti-drug efforts.
