U.S. President Donald Trump said he expects Iran to respond “very soon” to the latest American proposals aimed at ending the conflict between the two sides, adding that Tehran still appears eager to reach an agreement.

According to comments relayed by French journalist Margaux Haddad during a phone interview, Trump discussed developments surrounding the Iranian file as well as the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The U.S. president stated that Iran continues to show a clear willingness to negotiate a settlement, while Washington maintains a naval blockade against Tehran as part of a pressure campaign aimed at forcing concessions related to its nuclear program.

The White House had previously described the blockade as “highly successful,” claiming it had severely weakened the Iranian economy, while U.S. officials stressed that all options remain on the table regarding Iran.
