Mexico’s central bank cut its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 6.25%, surprising most analysts.
The decision passed by a narrow three-to-two vote despite persistent inflationary pressures and volatility in the Mexican peso.
The bank described the reduction as a limited adjustment to monetary policy and indicated that rates could remain at the new level for an extended period.
The move aims to support economic activity while maintaining efforts to contain inflation.
