Brazil’s government announced that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva would decide on new fiscal measures after returning from his overseas trip in mid-November.
Finance Minister Dario Durigan said the government was examining proposals to control public spending and strengthen financial stability amid investor concerns over rising public debt and mandatory expenditures.
The announcement comes as Brazil’s central bank maintains its benchmark interest rate at 13.75%, with investors closely watching the government’s next fiscal and monetary policy decisions.
