Former Tunisian Anti-Corruption Chief Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

A Tunisian court sentenced Chawki Tabib, the former head of the National Anti-Corruption Authority, to ten years in prison over allegations related to forgery and the use of falsified documents during his tenure.

Defense lawyer Samir Dilou stated that the Court of First Instance issued the ruling following a hearing held on Thursday.

The case stems from a report submitted by the authority to the former parliament in 2020 involving allegations of conflict of interest linked to former Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh, due to his ownership stake in a company that secured public contracts in the waste recycling sector.
