Japan national team coach Hajime Moriyasu announced the “Samurai Blue” squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, highlighted by the return of defender Takehiro Tomiyasu after a lengthy injury absence, alongside captain Wataru Endo and veteran Yuto Nagatomo.
Meanwhile, Kaoru Mitoma and Takumi Minamino were left out due to injuries.
Japan will begin its World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on June 14, followed by matches against Tunisia on June 20 and Sweden in Group F.
