The Portuguese Football Federation announced the departure of head coach Roberto Martínez following Portugal’s Round of 16 elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a defeat to Spain.

The federation thanked Martínez and his coaching staff for their professionalism and dedication during a tenure that included Portugal’s UEFA Nations League triumph in 2025.

Martínez took charge in January 2023, overseeing 45 matches, with a record of 32 wins, six draws, and seven defeats.
