A total of 422 activists from the “Global Sumud Flotilla” arrived in Istanbul after being deported by the Israeli Occupation following the interception of a maritime aid convoy heading to the Gaza Strip.

Several activists said they were subjected to beatings, electric shocks, and mistreatment during detention, while video footage showed some injured individuals on stretchers inside the airport.

The incident triggered widespread diplomatic reactions after Britain, France, and Portugal summoned Israeli diplomatic representatives following the circulation of footage showing detainees handcuffed during custody.
