The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Honaunau-Napoopoo on Hawaii Island.
According to seismologists, the quake occurred on Saturday, May 23, 2026, about 12 kilometers south of the town of Honaunau-Napoopoo, which has a population of around 2,500 residents.
The earthquake’s depth was measured at approximately 24.5 kilometers below the surface.
No injuries or material damage have been reported so far.
