Hundreds Detained in France Following Violence After Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League Triumph

French authorities announced the detention of approximately 416 people across the country, including 283 in Paris, following outbreaks of violence after Paris Saint-Germain secured its second UEFA Champions League title by defeating Arsenal on penalties in Budapest.

The Interior Ministry stated that celebrations involving thousands of supporters turned violent in several areas, with groups setting fires, vandalizing shops, torching vehicles, and attempting to storm a police station. One police officer was reportedly injured during the unrest.

The incidents mirror disturbances that followed the club’s first Champions League triumph last year.
