Hamas announced the start of a series of meetings in Cairo with mediators and Palestinian factions aimed at completing the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and discussing arrangements for the second phase.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said the talks are focused on ending hostilities, reopening border crossings, and facilitating humanitarian aid deliveries, as well as addressing issues related to Gaza’s administration, an international force, and the future of Palestinian factions’ weapons.

The meetings come amid continued ceasefire violations and worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
