Pakistan launched new airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan, killing 13 people, including women and children, according to Afghan authorities.

Islamabad, however, stated that the strikes targeted militants responsible for attacks inside Pakistan and claimed that 26 militants were killed.

The escalation follows months of border clashes and mutual accusations between the two countries over the alleged harboring of armed groups carrying out cross-border attacks.
