The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), affiliated with Al-Qaeda, announced a reward of €2 million for information leading to the whereabouts of Mali’s transitional leader, Assimi Goïta.

The group also offered rewards for information on other senior military officials.

The announcement comes days after Malian authorities issued similar rewards for information on leaders of the armed group amid escalating security tensions and militant attacks in northern Mali.
