The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday that the U.S. military conducted an airstrike in northwestern Syria on June 19, killing a senior ISIS leader.

CENTCOM said the precision strike targeted Ali Hussein al-Aliwi, describing the operation as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt and eliminate terrorists seeking to attack U.S. interests abroad or within the United States.

The command added that the strike is part of a broader campaign aimed at degrading ISIS capabilities and preventing future attacks.

It also confirmed that U.S. forces continue to work closely with regional partners in counterterrorism operations across the region.
