Serbia was set to hold early parliamentary elections on Sunday, October 25, amid growing political and social polarization.
More than 6.45 million eligible voters were expected to choose 250 members of the National Assembly from 18 electoral lists featuring a total of 2,418 candidates.
President Aleksandar Vučić called the early elections after parliament was dissolved on September 9 at the government’s proposal.
The vote comes amid continuing protests that began following the collapse of a concrete canopy at a railway station in Novi Sad in November 2024, an incident that killed 16 people.
What began as demonstrations over the tragedy later grew into broader demands for anti-corruption measures, accountability, and reforms to state institutions.
