Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party secured a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections, winning 438 out of 486 seats in the House of People’s Representatives, representing nearly 90% of the contested seats.

The National Election Board announced that around 40 million voters participated in the polls, although several voting centers remained closed due to security concerns.

The newly elected parliament is expected to choose the prime minister in the coming months.
