A Jordanian security officer was killed and another injured on Thursday in a knife attack on Al-Madina Al-Munawara Street in Amman, near the Sri Lankan Embassy.

The Public Security Directorate described the incident as a “terrorist act” and identified the deceased as Corporal Jawad Ali Khalaf Al-Salaytah.

Authorities said the attacker stabbed the officer before a police patrol intervened and arrested him. An officer from the patrol sustained facial injuries during the confrontation.

Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that the suspect had planned to target security personnel.

Police recovered bladed weapons, including two daggers, and temporarily closed the street.
