The death toll from an armed attack targeting funeral mourners near a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hamoud, in Jordan’s southern Karak Governorate, has reportedly risen to nine, according to the state-owned Al-Mamlaka television channel on Saturday.
The channel reported that another injured person had died, raising the reported death toll. However, the figures provided do not fully explain the increase from the previously announced seven deaths to nine.
The attack occurred on Friday, with an earlier report indicating seven fatalities and 27 injured people, while a total of 34 cases had been received at hospitals.
Jordan declared three days of national mourning beginning Friday, ordering flags to be flown at half-mast at ministries, government departments, public institutions and official bodies.
