Colombia advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Ghana 1-0 early Saturday in Kansas City.
John Arias scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute, finishing a cross from Luis Suárez.
Colombia’s disciplined defense protected the lead until the final whistle, extending the team’s unbeaten run and setting up a quarterfinal clash against Switzerland on Tuesday in Vancouver.
The Colombians had already topped Group 11 without suffering a defeat and continue their impressive campaign.
Colombia also became the fourth South American nation to reach the quarterfinals, joining Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.
