The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Wednesday that a container ship was fired upon by Iranian boats off the coast of Oman, causing damage but no reported injuries.

The agency said a vessel linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard approached the ship without issuing any radio warning before opening fire, resulting in significant damage to the bridge.

UKMTO added that no fire or environmental impact was reported, confirming that all crew members are safe.

The incident comes amid rising security tensions in key maritime routes in the region.
