The White House announced Monday evening that U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned, with her deputy set to take over in an acting capacity.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a statement that Chavez-DeRemer is stepping down to pursue a role in the private sector.
He added that she “did an excellent job in protecting American workers, promoting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives.”
Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling will assume the role of acting labor secretary, though no official date has been given for the resignation to take effect.
