The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed several immigration judges, including two who had blocked federal efforts to deport pro-Palestinian students, according to the National Association of Immigration Judges.
The association said six judges were fired earlier last week, with three more dismissed on April 3, bringing the total number of immigration judges removed since January 2025 to 113.
It expressed concern that the dismissals were carried out without due process or clear justification, describing them as “wrong and arbitrary.”
The group noted that the firing of immigration judges had been extremely rare prior to Trump’s return to office for a second term, raising questions about judicial independence in immigration cases.
