Authorities in Moscow reported that Ukrainian forces launched a drone attack targeting the capital, a move that could disrupt preparations for the upcoming Victory Day celebrations on May 9, commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that Russian air defenses intercepted and shot down the two drones before they reached their targets, noting that no significant damage was reported.

Despite the interception, the incident has cast a shadow over ongoing large-scale preparations for the annual military parade in the Russian capital.

The attack highlights continuing security concerns over Moscow’s airspace, which has previously faced similar drone strikes targeting airports and critical infrastructure, sometimes causing disruptions to air traffic and damage to energy and storage facilities.
