Five people were injured in a stabbing incident late Sunday at Penn Station in New York City, on the eve of the city’s first NBA Finals game and just days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Authorities confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody following the attack.

According to preliminary reports, one victim suffered serious injuries, two sustained moderate injuries, and two others were treated for minor wounds.

An investigation into the circumstances and motive of the incident remains ongoing.
