The Gaza Health Ministry said on Wednesday that 6,000 cases of limb amputation have been recorded over two years of conflict in the enclave, with patients in urgent need of both short- and long-term rehabilitation programs.

The announcement coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3.

The ministry added that 25% of amputations involve children who face permanent disabilities from an early age, noting that a lack of medical resources and supportive devices exacerbates the suffering of the injured.
