The Iran Football Federation has strongly criticized the FIFA over what it described as unfair treatment regarding participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in June and July.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, federation president Mehdi Taj said he had “never seen FIFA act in such a weak manner,” adding that the governing body has failed to respond to what he described as insults and disrespect toward Iran.
Taj further accused FIFA of yielding to political pressure, stating that the organization should prevent U.S. President Donald Trump from interfering in football matters during the tournament.
FIFA has not yet issued an official response to the remarks.
