U.S. Approves Over $8.6 Billion in Arms Sales to Middle East Allies

The US Department of State announced on Friday that it has approved military sales exceeding $8.6 billion to key Middle East allies, including Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.

The announcement comes nine weeks after the outbreak of war involving the United States and Israel against Iran, and more than three weeks after a fragile ceasefire took effect.

According to the State Department, the approved deal with Qatar includes $4.01 billion for upgrades to the Patriot missile system, along with $992.4 million worth of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems.

Additional approvals include a $2.5 billion integrated combat command system for Kuwait and a $992.4 million package of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems for Israel.
