U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to resume military strikes on Iran if no agreement is reached, while reaffirming that the naval blockade will remain in place.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after a visit to Arizona on Friday, Trump said a potential deal with Iran is not directly tied to the Lebanon ceasefire, but acknowledged a “psychological connection” between the two.
“We will help Lebanon,” he added, referring to the 10-day ceasefire announced Thursday following calls with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Asked whether the truce with Iran would be extended without a deal, Trump said: “Probably not. The blockade continues… and unfortunately, we may have to start bombing again.”
On Iran’s nuclear program, Trump claimed the U.S. intends to work with Iran to transfer its enriched uranium, stating: “We will go to Iran and work with them to move all that uranium to the United States.”
