12 Security Personnel Killed in Car Bomb Attack in Northwestern Pakistan

Pakistani police said on Sunday that 12 security personnel were killed after a car bomb exploded at a police checkpoint in northwestern Pakistan, followed by an ambush targeting officers who rushed to the scene to provide support.

Images taken after Saturday’s attack showed extensive destruction, with the police post reduced to rubble and debris, burned wreckage, and damaged vehicles scattered across the area.

Police official Sajid Khan said in a statement that rescue teams recovered the bodies of 12 security personnel from the site of the attack. He added that three others were found alive and were rushed to hospital for treatment.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, while authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
