The UN Security Council expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in Sweida Governorate since July 12, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 people and the displacement of approximately 192,000.
In a unanimously adopted presidential statement issued on Sunday, the Council strongly condemned crimes against civilians and called on all parties to commit to a ceasefire, ensure full and safe humanitarian access, and protect all individuals, including the wounded, surrendering persons, and detainees.
