Nepal’s new Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, assumed her duties today, Sunday, calling for calm and national rebuilding after a week of violent protests that left at least 72 people dead.
Karki, a former Chief Justice, pledged to respond to protesters’ demands to “end corruption.”
In her first statement, she said: “We must work in line with the thinking of the new generation,” emphasizing that their demands for eradicating corruption, achieving good governance, and economic equality should be everyone’s goal.
