New diplomatic tension between Egypt and Ethiopia over Nile flooding

Cairo accused Addis Ababa of causing flooding in Sudan through “reckless and unilateral actions” in managing the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which recently began full operations.

Ethiopia rejected the accusations as “baseless,” insisting the dam’s purpose is solely for hydroelectric power generation.

The dispute comes amid heavy rainfall and flooding across several Sudanese regions.
