Civil defense and firefighting teams in Syria are working to extinguish a fire that broke out on Friday evening in the forests and woodlands of Jabal al-Turkman in northern rural Latakia.

SANA reported that emergency and agriculture teams rushed to the village of Bashoura as soon as the fire erupted, and the flames expanded due to strong winds.

Teams began suppression operations to contain the fire’s spread and prevent it from approaching populated areas or nearby farmlands, amid fears of broader environmental damage.
