The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that air defense systems belonging to NATO intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Iran that entered Turkish airspace near the Incirlik Air Base.

The announcement came after a loud explosion shook windows in the area overnight. Ankara said the missile was neutralized over the eastern Mediterranean and called on Tehran to explain the incident.
