Iran Warns on Hormuz Transit: Gulf Security “For All or None”

Iranian Armed Forces spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari said on Monday that security in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman “must be for all or for none,” amid rising regional tensions.

In a statement, Zolfaghari said Iran will continue to “firmly ensure” security in its territorial waters, warning that vessels linked to the United States and Israel will not be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that other ships may transit the strait, but only in coordination with Iranian armed forces.

Zolfaghari described the U.S. decision to act against Iranian vessels in international waters as “illegal” and an act of “piracy.”

He stressed that Iran’s military position is clear: security in the Gulf region must be universal, warning against any selective application.
