NASA achieved a major milestone with the first supersonic flight of its experimental X-59 aircraft, part of a program aimed at developing quieter supersonic aviation.
The aircraft took off from Edwards Air Force Base in California with test pilot Jim Less at the controls, reaching a speed of approximately Mach 1.1 and an altitude exceeding 13,000 meters.
Through the project, NASA hopes to gather data that could help establish new standards for commercial supersonic travel in the future.
